Luiz Leite's Doctoral Exam

Luiz Carlos dos Santos Leite defended his Doctoral Thesis entitled "Absorption and Scattering of Plane Waves by Black Holes".  The exam took place at the Federal University of Pará on February 20th, 2018. The thesis was supervised by the Grav@zon member Prof. Luís C. B. Crispino. The Board of Examination was composed by Prof. Dr. André Carlos Lehum (UFPA), Prof. Dr. Manuel Eleutério Rodrigues (UFPA), Prof. Dr. Júlio César Fabris (UFES) and Prof. Dr. Valdir Barbosa Bezerra (UFPB). Well done Luiz!


Caio F. B. Macedo and Leandro A. de Oliveira are now Adjunct Professors

Caio F. B. Macedo and Leandro A. de Oliveira, from Grav@zon, have been hired in the year of 2017 as Adjunct Professors of the Salinópolis Campus of the Pará University (UFPA). Caio and Leandro are doing very well in teaching and contributing actively to the Undergraduate Physics Course that just started in that Campus. The whole Grav@zon group congratulates Caio and Leandro for their recent accomplishments and very promising career!


Scientists discuss black holes in Aveiro

The X Black Holes Workshop took place at Aveiro University on 18th - 19th December 2017. It gathered almost 100 scientists, including Professor Crispino (Grav@zon/UFPA), discussing black holes from many different perspectives. Besides several oral communications, the workshop also included the fourth General Assembly of the Portuguese Relativity and Gravitation Society (SPRG) and a special session celebrating the 60th anniversary of Prof. José Pizarro de Sande Lemos.


New RISE project kickoff meeting

The kickoff meeting of the FunFiCO RISE project took place on December 20th at Aveiro University. This is a Marie Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange partnership between Aveiro University (coordinator), Sheffield University (UK), UFPA (Brazil), UNAM (Mexico) and Valencia University (Spain).






IV Amazonian Symposium on Physics takes place in Belém

The IV Amazonian Symposium on Physics took place at the Federal University of Pará on 18th - 22nd September 2017. It gathered outstanding scientists in General Relativity and Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetimes, discussing many exciting results in these areas. Besides various seminars, oral communications and public lecture, the Symposium celebrated the 100 years of the de Sitter solution and the 60th anniversary of Prof. Atsushi Higuchi.
